NEW! Block Scheduling
Middle and high school students will move to a modified block schedule for the last period of the day. This will allow longer periods for art, music and P.E. classes. Several of the AP classes will also use this time block.
Congratulations Mrs. Hansen!
Angela Hansen, Kindergarten and AP Studio Art Teacher was juried into the 9th Annual Something Hot Art Show at Gallery 222 in Leesburg, VA. Her pastel drawing, Sun Bathing, shows a lazy catamaran basking in the Caribbean sun. Over one hundred and twenty pieces of art were submitted for the show but only a few were selected for the exhibit which will ran from August 13 to August 27, 2010.
Mrs. Hansen will be teaching an A. P. Studio Art class at Fairfax Christian School for the 2010-2011 school year. The class will explore many mediums like pastels as well as work on composition and design projects. Students will create a portfolio of artwork to submit to the College Board with the possibility of receiving college credit for their endeavors.
The A. P. Studio Art class is unique as it does not require passing a test, but a compilation and submission of work in breadth (exploration of different mediums/styles) and concentration (an interrelated series of work). Students will learn how to create a cohesive body of work for participation in gallery exhibitions, portfolio submissions to art schools or competition in local, regional and national art contests.
